On Becoming A Technology Teacher
October 30, 2009 by Eric
So you have some life skills and you think you'd like to be a teacher, eh? Well the good news is that, in many states, it is possible to get a provisional type teaching certificate that will allow you to teach without a college teaching degree. Usually all that is needed is current industry experience and the willingness to pursue a degrees in small steps.
The technology schools across our land seek teachers who come from the industries that they tech. Experts, who are wanting to now give back to the next generation that rises to take their place in the workplace. These industry experts know what 'right' is. They know what 'right' looks like. They know what 'right' smells like. They know what right 'feels' like. They have been dealing with 'right' all their lives and now there's no one better to pass that knowledge on.
Many universities offer programs for technology teachers to begin working toward a degree. Dr. Len Bogner of the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, OK, has such a department. Dr. Bogner and his staff can assist you in learning more about sharing your life's experience with the next generation. Visit Dr. Bogner's site to learn about Career Tech Education.
